From: Pastor Brent in Hospital
Firstly I want to express my incredible gratitude of the love and support I experienced, and continue to experience for Encounter Christian Centre.
I know that death was close by just prior to the second operation, but I also know the prevailing prayers of all those believers has brought me through an experience that will forever hold a central platform of who I am, and will become. It will be a joy and privilege to share the lessons I have learnt. But just one for now, the central message of one’s heart is what comes through in moments of standing between life and death.. What a story I have to tell over that.
I love you and all the members of Encounter so much and look forward to once again “being in fellowship together.” I am even considering a brief visit on Sunday morning – will wait and see how I feel.

---- This Sunday 14th March ----
10.00am - Pastor Barry Kirkley will be sharing and we are hoping for a visit from Pastors Brent and Patricia Douglas for a short time to say hi to everyone. This service will be a celebration to Glorify God for Brent’s recovery. We will have testimonies from people who were part of the greater body praying for Brent, as an encouragement to us all.
Pastor Bevan Herangi will be leading the service as we stand rejoicing together.
6.30pm Evening service - Pastor Bevan Herangi will be preaching, and also sharing about Brent’s recovery and what a great God we serve.
Pastor Matt Berry will lead the service so please bring your family and friends as this will be a great meeting.
This Week
YOUTH - Alta 7.30pm - Last week we had over 100 youth out on the sports night – it was alot of FUN! This week at Alta we have Youth Church – Pastor Andy Prentice is speaking, powerful praise & worship, highlights and awards from sports last week, also we hear about that guy Ben Simmons.
Dance Sessions starting this Friday 6pm – All you budding dancers – turn up with a gold coin donation!!!!
Matt will be there ready to learn hip hop!!
Fuel 7pm - Clip ‘n' Climb MASSIVE. Get ready to climb and jump the night away. Cost is $10. Everyone meet at church 495 Rosebank Rd @ 7pm, and pick up is from church at 9.30pm. Don't forget to bring your friends.
SHIFT - 12-17 year olds, Sunday morning 10am - 12pm. Meet at church on the front left hand side for worship before we head over to Urban Bean Cafe to go deep into God.

Wednesday 10th is our first e@495 – Is God Lonely?
7pm – free treats – great friends – powerful discipleship.
This Friday “Dynamic Encounter” 7.30pm - Healing meetings every Friday this week with Wayne Curham. Come and be filled with his presence. Bring your friends who have healing needs.
NEW CHURCH SERVICE 4th March 2010: “Thursday Night Church”
And away she goes!! The first service was a great success with great numbers and excellent ministry. The café was a hit and many people connected in small groups.
Please consider inviting a friend or family member who can’t do Sunday church.
Oasis Family Camp
10th- 11th April at Ponui Island its time to hang out again on a beautiful Island with your family and friends. These camps are great fun. Book this into your calendar and start saving a little each week. Contact barry@encounter.org.nz for more details
ENCOUNTER GLOBAL FIJI TEAM - May 5 -19: This is Encounter’s fifth team to Naisisili Village in the Yasawas. One more week to register for this trip. Contact Greg or Lynnette Van Nes this Sunday. Application forms and a summary of the trip will be given out.
The team will begin its 8 weeks of preparation on March 11.

A Note to all parents – Encounter is about family, below are the programs for our kids
Livewires - 0-3 year olds Sunday 10am.
Kylie Douglas will be the new leader heading this area beginning after Easter. Currently the four Sunday morning teams are continuing to provide excellent care for your children so you can attend Church. Remember the sleep room is available for your littlies to sleep with the assurance of the baby monitor.
4-6 year olds, Sunday 10 am. New group under construction to be launched after Easter.
Please continue to sign your children into the current program they are involved in. Very shortly we will be taking this group aside for “God time” targeted specifically for our fun loving, curious, logical 4-6 year olds. More information to follow.
Force 10 - 7-11 year olds, Sunday 10 am.
We aim to run a dynamic Kids Church where your children will encounter Jesus and experience the Holy Spirit. We will gradually change the age of the children attending F10 over the next year, so if your child is 10 they will stay with us till they are 12. Note if your child has already graduated to Fuel they will be included in the Shift program. If your child is 11 or 12, please discuss with us where they would best fit, as every child matures differently and there are options available.
KnightFORCE - 4-11 year olds, Sunday night 6:30pm until end of church.
KnightFORCE is a program run by parents for parents who want to attend the evening service on Sundays. To attend this program your child must be signed in and out. Children start in church for worship either with parents or with the KnightFORCE leader. Following this, the program then involves stories, ministry, craft, activities and games.
FUEL – Intermediate School Ministry Friday night (once a month) 7-9:30pm
Once a month we will be running a ‘MASSIVE’ social event for your child to attend. The aim of these nights is to draw your children and their friends to come along and build relationship with other peers and leaders in order to introduce them to Friday night youth (ALTA). OUR NEXT MASSIVE WILL BE HELD FRIDAY 5th MARCH.
SHIFT – 12-17 year olds, Sunday morning 10am – 12pm
SHIFT is our new addition this year for the youth. This is a place where the youth will learn, be discipled and have the opportunity to develop in their gifts and calling. Each of them will be part of a connect group with their peers. Every Sunday morning of the term we will stay in church for worship before leaving to go to the Urban Bean Café. The aim is for SHIFT to be a systematic discipleship training and teaching program relating to the youth in a way they understand. Following SHIFT each week we will be encouraging the youth to hang out for lunch with the team to get to know each other more.
ALTA – High School Ministry, Friday night 7–9:15pm
Alta is the High School ministry of Encounter. Alta this year will be focusing on outreach and evangelism. The youth churches and events run will be structured in such a way to reach out to your child’s non-Christian friends. Each night will have great times for hanging out and building relationships as well as relevant God connections. If your child attends SHIFT then they are welcome to attend Friday night ALTA, so make sure you contact Emma and Ryan Graham or Chris Steel to ensure your teenager has a great welcome into this exciting ministry.

Once a term we celebrate The Lord’s Supper together during our morning service.
CAMP PONUI Youth - March 26-28 - $95 per person. Rego for the greatest weekend youth can ever have. Registration desk is up every service, so make sure you register ASAP!! If anyone is interested in sponsoring youth, please let us know.
